#BitcoinForBeirut – How to help survivors of the Beirut, Lebanon explosion

International Medical Corps has a goal of raising $1,000,000 from the cryptocurrency community. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency donations have provided us critically needed support as we continue to respond to COVID-19. Right now though, Lebanon needs us. Having operated in Lebanon since 2006, and with almost 300 staff in the country, International Medical Corps has been able to quickly ramp up assistance activities in response to the explosion, working closely with international aid agencies, the Ministry of Public Health and INGOs on the ground. We have an undamaged warehouse in Beirut, where we store medicine, medical supplies and PPE that we are providing to hospitals and other healthcare centers, and also are providing these facilities with surgical kits, trauma kits and burn kits. We are deploying mobile medical teams to provide a range of health services to affected communities. Other services we are providing through the mobile medical teams and health facilities are mental health and psychosocial support, including psychological first aid and medications; water, sanitation and hygiene services, including distribution of hygiene kits; food security, especially for infants and mothers; prevention of, and support for survivors of, gender-based violence; and ensuring continuity of care for patients with chronic conditions and other ongoing needs.

Any donations given to us will only be used by us to fund our own activities directly helping people. We never pass funds on to governments or government agencies to fund their efforts. In addition, we have strict legal and compliance rules in place to ensure that all purchases are handled and accounted for correctly, so anyone who gives to us can give with the confidence that their funds will go directly toward aid-related activities.
